Grading Scale Under Development
Determination of Grading Scale
Working on a grading scale...at the bottom of it will be: Terrible-don't bother. Two Family House does not even go that low because a) I did finish it b) I found some redeeming value to me as a particular reader at that particular time and c) it wasn't terrible per se: it wasn't poorly written (though it was not particularly well written either) , the story at least progressed in a logical fashion and it did conclude at the end...the lack of those characteristics might make a book "Terrible-don't bother".
Right above that? Only as a last resort if you have nothing else to read and a storm has wiped out your tv and internet options. Otherwise, you're better off watching an episode of Grey's Anatomy (again) on Netflix.
Next up: If-you-have-nothing-else-to-read-try-it.
Somewhere at the top? Best Book Ever Category, recommend to everyone and anyone. Books that would make this list? Hunger Games and East of Eden.
Second from top: Fabulous. Maybe not Best Book Ever category because there are some readers who it won't work for. Game of Thrones for example...there are some who couldn't handle the length of one book, not to mention a whole series, and not everyone likes fantasy, and the gore and sex would be too much for some...so Fabulous is next on the list.
Somewhere between Fabulous and If-you-have-nothing-else-to-read-try-it are a couple of categories I am still working on...maybe Good Enough? Maybe Bearable, but just. Maybe a Read it More than Once It Moves on the Scale (RIMTOMS?) could apply to a book in just about any category...anyway, this scale is under development...
